Volunteering

We need you!  Without our team of volunteers, Colwick Park Lifeguards could not operate.

Operating a variety of training and development, our aim is to give our volunteers as much as they put in.  This could be through structured training programmes and qualifications, teamwork and social enjoyment or the sheer excitement of making a difference!

Our team of volunteers come from a variety of walks of life, with most (but not all) based in the East Midlands, with different activities suitable for a wide mix of ages - our youngest active member is 12 and our oldest is almost 90!

In their professional lives our team currently includes a team of paramedics, former police officers with significant police diving experience, leisure centre staff, engineers, the brand manager of a global beer brand and nursery nurse!  Plus there are many people in full time education as far North as Hull, South as Southampton, East as Cambridge University and West ....ok we don't have many people from the West, yet .

This unique blend of experience, personalities and knowledge makes us what we are - we are not a group who all have the same view of life, which gives us the desire to always challenge the status quo and continue to develop - an approach that has seen our operations flourish for over thirty years!

Alongside the obvious requirement for members involved in Lifeguarding and Helming, there are also other crucial areas where we always need support - these include equipment management, maintenance, catering, people transport, towing trailers - and lots more! We're happy to talk through any opportunities to volunteer with us.

To see what it's like to be involved you can come along to any of our events, or to one of our regular training sessions.  Please contact  for a chat about what you are interested in getting involved in and how this could happen - we're a very welcoming team!
